Here’s a revolutionary thought:
There is nothing wrong with you.
And another: You are not broken. You don’t need to be fixed.
Do you believe me? I’m not sure you do.
I’m not surprised. You have, after all, been told your entire life what to do, who to be, how to act, how to dress, what you should look like, how to behave.
You’ve been conditioned to please, to serve, to support, to obey, to conform, to fit in, to concede, to compromise. You’ve learnt how to be unassuming, to be quiet, to speak when spoken to, to hush, to let the boy go first, to not be bossy, to be gracious, to wait your turn. You’ve discovered how you need to behave to be liked and to get ahead.
Mostly, you have learnt why you’re just not quite right, simply as you are.
The path to freedom is paved with awareness, awakening and loads of self compassion. It starts with a deep resonance of this simple truth: you are utterly fine just as you are.
Roll that up and smoke it for a while. Savor the scent of it. Chew on the remnants. Spit out the lies and unhelpful guidance you’ve been served your entire life like a cowboy spitting out an old piece of tobacco he no longer has the taste for.
You don’t need it anymore. You don’t need any of it.
There is nothing wrong with you. You are not broken. You don’t need to be fixed.
You are on your own beautiful challenging unique path to coming home to yourself. You are waking up, seeing yourself as you always were, before they told you who and how you should be. You can just do you. Every day. In all the ways. And know that you are enough. Right here, right now, and for all of eternity.
Breathe into that. Soak in it. Lather it up. Let it sink deep within you. And let that knowing soothe your soul, enliven your heart, invoke your wild, and open up all that is possible for your beautiful life
