Peace. It’s always there.
It’s there. Deep down inside. Perhaps long hidden and forgotten about.
Under the everyday stresses and the life changing disappointments.
Beneath the tension, the worry, the never-ending to-do lists and the juggle and struggle. Buried deep under the crashing waves that may seem like your life.
Like the silence and stillness at the bottom of the ocean, that can’t be seen from the boat on the surface. Like the beautiful blue sky that sits behind the stormy clouds, that you can’t see unless you fly up and over them.
It’s there. Waiting for you to discover it.
When was the last time you felt peaceful? Content and calm. Not necessarily carefree. But grounded. Relaxed. Deeply connected to your source.
Can you even remember?
There is a beautiful saying that I love:
“Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart”.
We sometimes search for peace yet think that we need to be sitting on a mountaintop before we have any chance of experiencing it. Or we need to remove ourselves from our daily life to get a glimpse of it. Yet it’s not the case.
Eleanor Roosevelt said:
“It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it”.
So how do we do that?
Start by getting still. Get really quiet. Sit in meditation. Breathe deeply. Take long walks. Connect with nature. Connect with yourself, your passion and purpose. Remember why you are showing up in the world, and who you are showing up for.
And know that no matter what is going on for you, beneath the noise and the chaos, that sense of peace is always with you, deep inside your soul.
